CORMORANT’S FANCY, a South-Central PA Celtic folk band playing traditional Irish and Scottish music, will perform a benefit concert for Susan G. Komen for the Cure at First Lutheran Church, 21 South Bedford Street, Carlisle, on Sunday, March 11 at 3 P.M. sponsored by the Fine Arts at First Artist Series. Featuring concertina, fiddle, penny whistles, low whistles, guitar, bodhran, and vocals, the band will perform a variety of jigs, reels, hornpipes, polkas, and slow airs as well as sing favorite Irish songs including Arthur McBride, P Stands for Paddy, and The Minstrel Boy. The audience will be invited to join in some sing-alongs, and children will be asked to play shakers with the band on selected tunes. The concert is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 2:15 p.m. All monies raised will be designated for breast cancer research and will receive supplemental funding from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, a Fortune 500 company that provides financial resources for community fundraisers that benefit worthy nonprofit organizations.
