The Details:

Here is a great basket...called Amy's Basket by the woman who found the original in the mountains of North Carolina. It is a VERY old basket and design, including the rim, used to gather nuts, but no one knows its original use. Students will have their choice of colors to accent the basket. Basket is approximately 8x8x13...including handle. Students need to bring a bucket or dishpan that will hold a gallon of water, sharpened pencil, spray bottle, old towel, measuring tape...I prefer cloth ones as they do not rust, 12 LARGE (available at Walmart) wooden clip clothespins, a brick or other other heavy object wrapped in plastic wrap for a weight, their lunch, drinks and snacks and wear comfortable old clothes. I will provide everything else. It needs to be stressed that they need to bring these things AND come early...as the class STARTS on time and they will be behind if they show up when the class is slated to start. Joan has been professionally weaving for about 10 years. People want handmade things that are unusual, reasonably priced, made in America and fun! She does everything herself from the design to the selling. This enables her to make very personal customized items for individuals and businesses. Joan's motto is "one of a kind, made one at a time". She has won many awards for weaving including Basket of the Year for the Maryland State Fair; Recycling Project of the Year at the Maryland State Fair, Mayor's Choice Award at 2013 Art's Alive in Ocean City, MD.
