SkillSwap is a barter-based education series featuring workshops on a variety of topics. There is no monetary registration fee; instead, each instructor suggests items or services they will accept in exchange for class participation. Our volunteer instructors prepare based on how many people sign up, so PLEASE ONLY SIGN UP IF YOU WILL ACTUALLY ATTEND. Class Description Investing basics: * Where do you begin? * What options are available to invest in the stock market? * Tax-advantaged plans * 3 Ds of investing * Rule of 72 * Managed accounts vs. self-directed brokerage accounts Suggested swap items for this class * Coffee meeting/get-together * Dark chocolate anything * New towels, pillows, sheets (full), or shower curtains and hooks - to donate for abused women through Love Lives About the Instructor Julie Bortner is a mother of three who used to be an athletic trainer, but is currently a regional manager investment advisor representative with Primerica. She has 19+ years of experience in that field, with most financial licenses. She has helped many families gain hope through becoming debt free, properly protected, and financially independent. She does a great job managing their money.
