The Details:

This award-winning play by Lucy Kirkwood reminds us of an image that arrested the world: a protester facing down four tanks in Tiananmen Square in 1989. Who was he, and who was the photojournalist who captured it? From there to the fraught present of US and China relations, it examines capitalism and culture, journalism and censorship.

Chimerica is directed by Karla Boos with Art Direction from longtime Quantum collaborator Susan Tsu. The political thriller will open November 27 and runs through December 19 at the new Maverick Hotel, formerly the East Liberty YMCA. The artistic team includes Noah Glaister, Scenic Design; Mary Ellen Stebbins, Lighting Design; Margaret McGrann, Costume Design; Steve Shapiro, Sound Design; Carolina Loyola-Garcia, Projection Design; and Randy Kovitz, Fight Direction.

Featuring 6 Asian and 6 American actors, the Chimerica cast includes, Kyle Haden, Hansel Tan, Elena Alexandratos, Mei Lu Barnum, Mimi Jong, Brian Kim, Jason McCune, John Michnya, Ariel Pang-Xiu, John Shepard, Alison Weisgall, and Tobias C. Wong.
